Behind the canvas

Henrik Diamant es un pintor sueco — a Swedish painter — living and working in Mijas Pueblo since 2016. He left Stockholm, la oscuridad y el frío del norte, and found in the light of Andalucía everything his painting had been looking for.

His work moves between lo figurativo y lo abstracto — between figure and form — built up in layers of acrylic, egg tempera and gesso on linen, using earth tones and colour palettes from the 15th and 17th centuries. Inspired by Miró, Le Corbusier and the great surrealists, his paintings carry what his grandfather understood early: que hay líneas que no se pueden pintar mal — that some lines, when they are right, simply cannot be wrong.
